We know for certain that Ubisoft is working on two new Assassin’s Creed games, one codenamed ‘Infinity’ and the other being a standalone game. As per earlier rumorus, the standalone adventure could be named ‘Rift’. And as per the recent claims of Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, ‘Rift’ could actually be the name of the next Assassin’s Creed title, as per a report by GameReactor.
As per the report, the journalist has also shared that the game will be set in Baghdad, Iraq. Earlier reports have claimed that Rift will feature Basim Ibn Ishaq from Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla and that Rift was earlier intended to be released as an expansion pack for Valhalla.
On Twitter and Reddit, there have been other claims also about the next Assassin’s Creed adventure taking place during the time of the Aztec Empire and the era of the American conquest by the Spanish Empire in the 16th century. But Schreier reportedly denies the Aztec setting in not just Rift but also Infinity.
We might hear more about the next Assassin’s Creed game when Ubisoft hosts its Ubisoft Forward event on September 10. The French video game developer and publisher recently announced that it will unveil fresh details about its upcoming games during the Ubisoft Forward event on September 10 at 12:00 PM PT, which, in IST would be September 11 12.30 AM.
A website post by the company spokesperson Youssef Maguid says, “Ubisoft Forward returns in full force, ready to reveal updates and news on multiple games and projects from Ubisoft teams around the world. Ubisoft Forward will broadcast on YouTube, Twitch, and on our official website.”
With Valhalla, Ubisoft introduced the Vikings into the Assassin’s Creed universe. Action and gameplay-wise, the game was a heavy departure from the older games in the franchise. Later, it also got a huge expansion in the form of Dawn of Ragnarok.
