While Apple did not tell us on the stage about the battery capacities of the new iPhone 14 models, a filing with a Chinese regulatory and Chemtrec, an organisation responsible for hazardous material safety, spills the beans.
The new iPhone 14 models have a tad larger battery compared to their predecessors, except the iPhone 14 Pro, which has a slightly smaller battery and the iPhone 14 Plus, which has no predecessor to compare, packs the largest battery of the bunch.
The iPhone 14 has a 3279mAh battery rated at 12.7WHr, while there is a 3227mAh battery inside the iPhone 13. Compared to up to 19 hours of video playback time on the iPhone 13, the iPhone 14 claims to offer up to 26 hours of video playback.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 Plus boasts a 4325mAh battery rated at 16.7WHr, the largest of four, promising up to 26 hours of video playback time, which means a day’s worth of battery life.
The iPhone 14 Pro comes with a 3200mAh battery rated at 12.4WHr, slightly larger than the iPhone 13 Pro’s 3,095mAh battery. As per Apple, the iPhone 14 Pro would offer up to 23 hours of video playback, an hour longer than what iPhone 13 Pro promises.
The only iPhone to have a smaller battery than its predecessor is the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which boasts a 4323mAh battery, while the iPhone 13 Pro has a 4325mAh battery, which is a negligent difference. There is an hour difference between the promised video playback time of the two iPhone models; the iPhone 14 Pro Max offers up to 28 hours of video playback, while iPhone 13 Pro promises up to 27 hours.
Meanwhile, the charging speed remains the same for all four iPhone 14 models. The 3C listing shows 29W (14.5V, 2A) for one of the iPhone 14 models, which could be the iPhone 14 Pro, and it is the same as the iPhone 13 Pro Max, which is said to be rated at 27W.
