While speaking on the rejected wheat consignment by Turkey, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on June 03 in Delhi, informed about the entire incident, and said that ITC had no information that the wheat consignment was for Turkey. He also informed that the ITC has assured the Union Minister of investigating the matter. “A country (Turkey) rejected our wheat consignment and sent it back. We have initiated a probe but after the preliminary investigation, we received information that this export was of ITC Ltd,” the Union Minister said.“The Netherlands bought this consignment. ITC had no knowledge that it was for Turkey. I have no information on the motive behind which country that did this. But I have complete faith that India’s wheat is of good quality and ITC buys good wheat,” he added.
