While removing the blue ticks from various accounts, Twitter accidentally removed the gold checkmarks which is a badge given to businesses and organisations. During this entire process, Twitter accidentally removed the gold checkmark from the official Disney account. As reported by BBC, the social networking platform accidentally reinstated the gold checkmark on a fake Disney UK account. This Disney account is specifically created for trolling.
“The owner alerted his followers by saying, “This isn’t actually real, right. Someone pinch me or something-and the tweet has since gone viral,” added the report. In the meantime, Twitter also issued the gold checkmark on the original Disney Junior account. For the uninitiated, that gold tick on Twitter is for organisations that pay $1,000 per month.
What are the different checkmarks on Twitter?
Twitter applies visual identity signals like labels and checkmarks on account profiles to provide more context about — and help distinguish — different types of accounts. The company offers three types of checkmarks — blue, gold and grey.
Blue checkmarks
The blue checkmark means that an account has an active subscription to Twitter Blue and meets our eligibility requirements. Accounts that receive the blue checkmark as part of a Twitter Blue subscription will not undergo review to confirm that they meet the active, notable and authentic criteria that were used in the previous process.
Gold checkmarks
The gold checkmark indicates that the account is an official business account through Twitter Verified Organisations.
Grey checkmarks
The grey checkmark indicates that an account represents a government/multilateral organisation or a government/multilateral official
