The former India skipper asked the crowd to stop chanting his franchise name by making a gesture and pointed to his shirt and asked them to show support for Team India.
During the match, Kohli also added another feather to his cap as he became the sixth and the fastest batter in the world to score 25,000 runs across formats.
India won the second Test by six wickets inside three days to retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy in the four-match series.
