whatsapp disappearing message: WhatsApp may soon bring disappearing messages to Groups – Times of India

WhatsApp introduced the disappearing message feature in November last year. The feature allows users to send messages that automatically delete after seven days. Till now, it was available for individual chats and admins for WhatsApp.
According to a report by WaBetaInfo, the feature may soon be made available to every member of a WhatsApp Group. The Facebook-owned instant messaging app has rolled out the latest beta on Android version 2.21.8.7 where the upcoming feature has been spotted.
“WhatsApp is now rolling out the possibility to toggle disappearing messages from any group member if the administrator didn’t disable this possibility,” says the report. This means that every group member will be able to send disappearing messages in WhatsApp group chats.
WaBetaInfo is the platform that keeps track of the latest and upcoming features of WhatsApp. In its report, WaBetaInfo has also shared a screenshot from a group chat setting. It shows that the option “Edit group info” has been updated to reflect the recent changes. It now includes disappearing messages settings that will be available for both ‘All participants’ and ‘Only admins’.
It is also reported that WhatsApp is testing to reduce the time of disappearing messages from the current 7 days to 24 hours. It was first reported in March this year when WaBetaInfo tweeted “WhatsApp is testing the ability to set messages to disappear after 24 hours”.
In another update, WhatsApp has rolled out beta version 2.21.8.9 for Android. It brings Redesigned Mention Badge feature which allows users to view a mention badge when they receive a mention in a message from a specific group.
