Popular playback singer Jubin Nautiyal, who was recently in news for his rumoured ‘secret engagement’ with actor Nikita Dutta, has shared a video slamming people who have been littering in the mountains. Jubin hails from the Uttarakhand’s Jaunsar region and his social media handle is full of videos showing his love for trekking and love for mountains. However, the singer recently came across a viral video which shows a municipality truck dumping waste randomly on the roadside. The video is from Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district and one can see river Alaknanda flowing below and a mountain of waste ready to topple into it. Urging the district administration to look into the matter, Jubin tagged the office of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and wrote a long note along with the video. The post read, ‘Gauchar Chamoli, Karnprayag, Chamoli District. Kindly look into this . The Uttarakhand we are building is not going to suffer like this.’ Many netizens took to the comment section of the singer’s post to vent their anger and slammed the state government. Some comments read, ‘Why state government is not taking any action and why Himalayas states don’t impose west management, plants to for west management..as they take revenue on environmental tax too’, ‘Unfortunately, this crime was done by MCD officials in Gauchar, Chamoli’ and ‘My heart breaks to see this. We, humans, as tenants have failed to take care of our only home earth. What a terrible shame.’ For the uninitiated, Gauchar was adjudged the ‘Best Ganga Town’ under the Swachh Survekshan 2019.
