yogi: It was SP govt which stopped old pension scheme, says Yogi | India News – Times of India

LUCKNOW: Days after Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav promised that his party would restore the old pension of the state government employees, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said (Akhilesh’s) “Abba jaan” (SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav) was the CM when the old pension scheme was done away with in 2005.
Without taking names, Yogi said the state government employees had never been “their” (SP’s) priority. “He (Akhilesh) himself was the CM for five years but no such measure was taken,” he said.
Meeting a four-member delegation of the State Employees’ Joint Council, the CM assured them that their demands would be considered and the issues raised by them would be resolved.
“The state government has already provided the cashless treatment facility to employees, restoration of secretariat allowance for Secretariat staff, and also filled vacant posts in various departments,” he said.
“Our government brought in measures to ensure timely payment of salary to outsourcing staff, provided Covid allowance and smartphones to ASHA workers. We are committed to ensuring the welfare of employees and will keep working for them in future,” Yogi added.
The government employees are demanding the facility of GPF in the new pension scheme, constitution of new pay commission and amendments to NPS, among others.
Two days ago, deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma had flayed Akhilesh questioning him as to why he did not reverse the decision of his own government. “When the people have made up their mind to teach the SP a lesson, Akhilesh is falling back on false promises and dreaming of coming to power,” he had said.
“Teachers and employees are well aware of SP’s trick of misleading people with false promises. They are no longer going to be affected by any false and ludicrous announcement,” Sharma had said, terming Akhilesh as “Wayde Azam” accusing him of doing “political drama”.
