Mullaperiyar dam water level rises seven feet in single day

Water level in the Mullaperiyar reservoir in Kerala rose by seven feet in a single day due to heavy rain in the catchment areas. The catchment areas of the reservoir received 19.8cm of rainfall in the last 24 hours ending at 8am on Friday. This resulted in the water level going up with an inflow of 17,700 cusecs, the highest in the recent months. The water level, which was 123.20 feet on Thursday, crossed 130 feet on Friday morning.
