NEW DELHI: Maruti Suzuki on Wednesday drove in the new BS6-compliant S-Cross through its first-ever virtual launch event. The launch of the BS6 S-Cross has delayed quite a few times due to the Covid crisis.
The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross BS6 starts at Rs 8.39 lakh (ex-showroom) and the range topping variant costs Rs 12.39 lakh (ex-showroom). The new S-Cross will be offered in four trims-Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The manual transmission trims range between Rs 8.39 lakh – Rs 11.15 lakh (ex-showroom) and the automatic transmission trims range between Rs 10.83 lakh – Rs 12.39 lakh (ex-showroom).

The BS6 S-Cross is powered by a 1.5-litre K-15 4-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 105 PS of power and offers a peak torque of 138 Nm. The new engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and a 4-speed AGS transmission. The S-Cross MT will offer a fuel economy of 18.55 kmpl whereas the AMT trim will offer a mileage of 18.43 kmpl.
The new BS6 S-Cross is equipped with the next generation Smart Hybrid system with a lithium-ion dual battery system offering improved fuel efficiency, idle start-stop, torque assists functions and brake energy regeneration in addition to providing optimal acceleration and performance.

Maruti Suzuki has pulled the plug on the diesel variant of the crossover SUV as it makes it to the BS6 era. The only major change in the transition is the powertrain and the S-Cross retains the same looks from the outgoing BS4 model.
The exterior design remains the same with the wide grille, LED DRLs and headlamps that give the S-Cross a bold stance. On the inside, the S-Cross gets an upgrade with plush interiors. Leather clad dashboard and steering wheel give a premium look to the car.
The new S-Cross boasts the new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Other features include automatic rain-sensing wipers, auto projector LED headlamps and cruise control.
In terms of convenience, the new S-Cross features the new auto-retracting ORVMs, rear parking camera and the anti-glare IRVM. The safety features include ABS with EBD, seat-belt reminder, rear parking assist, high-speed alert, reverse parking sensors and the ISOFIX child seat system.
“ The new S-Cross Petrol offers a powerful drive experience with refined performance. This is complemented by a dominating and authoritative design language along with feature-rich interiors. Appealing to the customers who strive for adventure and performance, the launch of the powerful all new S-Cross with 1.5 litre petrol engine and automatic variant will offer customers a delightful experience,” said Kenichi Ayukawa, MD and CEO, MSIL.
