Twitter is rolling out its subscription service for users in select regions. Twitter Blue service introduces new features like the ability to undo tweets and read ad-free articles on the microblogging platform. The new subscription service is available for both iOS and Android users along with Twitter web. It is rolling to users in the US, New Zealand, Canada and Australia. Twitter Blue subscription comes with a monthly charge of $2.99 (approx. Rs 222).
Announcing the rollout via a blog post, the company said that “this is just the beginning for Ad-free Articles with much more ad-free content to come as we continue to build more partnerships, with more publishers, in more markets.”
Twitter Blue subscribers will be able to customise the navigation bar for quick access to the Twitter destinations they care about most. They will also get exclusive app icons and colourful themes and Bookmark Folders.
With the Undo Tweet button, subscribers will be able to preview and perfect tweets before they are sent. They will also have access to Reader, which turns long threads into an easier-to-read experience. Within Reader, users can change text size as well.
Another feature that will be available for Twitter Blue subscribers is the ability to read ad-free articles for select websites. Twitter says that a portion of the revenue from Twitter Blue subscription fees will go directly to publishers within their network.
“This is just the beginning for Ad-free Articles with much more ad-free content to come as we continue to build more partnerships, with more publishers, in more markets,” Twitter’s blog post reads.
Subscribers of Twitter Blue will also get early access to features that the microblogging app is testing. They will also be able to upload videos of up to 10-minutes (as opposed to the standard ~2 minutes for non-subscribers) via Longer Video uploads and pin their favourite conversations to the top of their DM’s with pinned conversations.
